This week (25/06/2022) takes us to Billericay in Essex, England around 248 miles back into lower Central Scotland. The birds were liberated at 0600hrs in a south west wind that was fresh on route, the winners made light work of the distance and arrived in 5 hrs 34 minutes recording a velocity of 1832 y/m.
Again back at the top was the phenomenal partnership of GWP Macaloney who had four pigeons drop together to win the first four positions in the Open with 928 birds competing. To date this is the premier race of the season. Full report with Photos here
As I have reported on many a time Paul & Wullie are magicians of their trade. For us" mere mortals" you can only shake your head how good these guys are! You try every week but there isn't anyone who can touch them for consistency and team performances. To get four in the drop from 350 miles is remarkable.
Their pigeons look the part and have are the real deal. They win from 50 to 500 miles, their pigeons are leaders of the pack and race each other home for the first prize. The Lanarkshire Federation is the biggest in the land and they dominate it. Year in year out it’s the name on everyone lips. What time are the Macs in. They are just so good and win the slowest race this year and the fastest.
This week’s winner is a yearling check hen called Nike winner of 1st Open Federation 928 birds,67th Open federation 5,391 birds and 77th Open federation 2,462 birds.
The Macs had 23 pigeons at race with 21 home, top racing on a difficult day when many a good pigeon hasn't returned. Possible over shooting their lofts with birds being reported in the North of Scotland and in Northern Ireland. Hopefully they will work in over the next couple of weeks.
Reports of winners around clubs
Andy Eadie reports on Cambusnethan/Morningside winner. On speaking to John Lawrie this morning his winner has been a very consistent pigeon and was bred by Gibb & Burns (Nothern Ireland ) Lambrecht sent to the race on a 5 day youngster and he is selling his special potion at £5 per bottle which he assures me and Tam is not dodgy.
Report from Lewis McCalley that his winner a dark check hen a Woodroffe brothers, is the same hen that won 1st Open Federation from Worksop and also won 1st Yearling Derby. She had just taken up with a new partner.
John Hood and Andrew McBurnie both sent some information on Chryston winner Paul Conroy who's winner Sire bred by club mate Colin Gray and Dam was a Billy Graham pigeon that was 3rd sect SNRPC Billericay.
